Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Emmy Award-winning international journalist Armie Jarin-Bennett joins CNN Philippines as its new executive vice president and managing editor, effective November 2, 2015.

“CNN Philippines is ready to move forward with Ms. Armie Jarin-Bennet at the helm. It is with pride that we bring back our kababayan and welcome her into our fold,” said Officer-In-Charge Jorge Sanagustin, who takes over leadership of the network from recently-retired President Reggie Galura.

Jarin-Bennett takes up this new position following more than 18 years with CNN, having worked in the U.S. and Hong Kong.

“Armie’s wealth of experience on both the editorial and business side will be a huge asset to CNN Philippines. Armie has been an invaluable colleague to us at CNN and we are thrilled she will remain part of the extended CNN family. We wish her nothing but success as she embarks on this new and exciting opportunity," said CNN International Chief Commercial Officer Rani Raad.

Born and raised in Manila, Jarin-Bennett started her professional career as a radio newscaster for a local station, before moving to Atlanta in 1996 to intern at CNN’s main headquarters. She became a production assistant at Headline News in 1997 and quickly moved up to writer and producer positions.

In 2000, she transferred to CNN International as a news producer, eventually becoming supervising producer in 2004. In 2008, she became an executive producer, where she oversaw newsroom operations in Atlanta. The responsibility included daily news editorial direction, as well as production work across international bureaus.

In 2012, she was one of the Emmy Award winners for Outstanding Live Coverage of a Current News Story – Long Format, for CNN's coverage of the revolution in Egypt. The following year, Jarin-Bennett was also among CNN journalists nominated for an Emmy Award for coverage of Super Typhoon Haiyan.

She joined CNN International Commercial in 2013 as executive director of CNN Content Sales and Partnerships in Asia Pacific, working in coordination with Turner's Networks & Content Distribution team in their respective markets. She was also tasked with managing all after-sales support initiatives for CNN affiliate newsrooms, including training and consulting services.

“I’m excited to work alongside the talented team of journalists at CNN Philippines. This is a great opportunity for us to continue to strengthen CNN Philippines and become the trusted name in news in the country,” Jarin-Bennett said.

"I’m looking forward to coming home."
