uMetro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 8) — The Miss Universe Charity Fashion Show displayed style and elegance as beauty queens took over the runway on Thursday for a good cause.

The ladies donned dresses made by world-renowned Filipino and foreign designers at the event held at the Solaire in Parañaque City.

Headlining the show were Miss Universe 2017 Demi Leigh Nel Peters, Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittanaere and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

Other candidates from this year's pageant also wowed the crowd with their world-class pieces.

Filipina beauty queens Shamcey Supsup, Venus Raj, Maxine Medina, and Bianca Manalo joined the candidates in walking down the ramp.

"We're very proud to be Filipino like the other girls from other countries. Dumating sila para tumulong sa project na 'to and we're very very excited about it [they visited to help wit this project and we're very excited about it] ...We could see how the whole universe helped one another," designer Albert Andrada said.

Not to be outshined by the beauty queens were the beneficiaries of the Hope for Change Foundation.

The little girls received gifts from the three Miss Universe titleholders and even walked and posed with them onstage.

"What's giving me the goosebumps is it's a historic moment for not just all the beauty queens to be together but Ms. 2015, 2016, 2017 to be all together... having the same battle cry of inspiring giving hope," FrontRow Chief Executive Officer RS Francisco said.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Foundation's charity program, which sends less fortunate students to school from elementary to college.

Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo earlier said the beauty queens' visit to the Philippines was a strategic move to promote the country's tourism.

On Friday, the Miss Universe titleholders visited different tourist sites nationwide. Nel-Peters went to Batanes, Mittenaere went to Camiguin and the others visited Bohol.

Meanwhile, Nel-Peters took the opportunity to raise awareness on her advocacy of self-defense after being a carjacking victim.

"Just never allow yourself to be a victim. Never allow yourself to be in a prison of fear, because if you're going to do that, you're going to live your whole life in fear," the reigning beauty queen said.

Mittanaere, who was named Miss Universe 2016 at the coronation night held in Manila, thanked the Filipinos for their support.

"I think it was the best moment of my year in the Philippines, that's why I think I had such a wonderful year, and I'm really happy to finish here in the Philippines," she said.
