Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 28) — A House representative may seek an investigation of an incident where comedian Jervi Li, more popularly known as "Kaladkaren Davila," and her group were allegedly discriminated upon a bar in Makati City.

Bataan 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman, in her comment on Li's Facebook post, said she would file a resolution to look into the "very unfortunate" incident.

Roman was among thousands of people online who sympathized with the group.

Li and her friends were barred from entering H&J Sports Bar in Poblacion, Makati Sunday night for being gay. In a video she posted on her social media accounts, Li shared her confrontation with one of the bar's security personnel denying them entry.

"Inutos lang naman sa akin, wag kayo ma-offend," the personnel said.

[Translation: Don't be offended. It was just ordered upon us.]

To this, Li responded, "Nao-offend kami (We are offended) because that's discriminating people like us. Now explain to us kung ano ang mga hindi pumasok (who are not allowed to enter)."

But the man kept insisting gays are not allowed inside the establishment.

"Eh ang dami daming bakla sa loob," one of Li's friends said.

[Translation: But there's so many gay people inside.]

"Walang bakla dyan!" the man replied.

[Translation: No, there are no gay people inside.]

Slamming the foul treatment, Li said such incident "is one of the many reasons why we need protection."

Roman, the first transgender in the Congress, is a known gay rights advocate. She is among lawmakers who are currently pushing for the enactment of the House Bill 4982, a proposed Act on Prohibiting Discrimination on the Basis of Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity or Expression (SOGIE) and Providing Penalties Therefor, also known as Sogie Equality Bill. It is a substitution of all House bills proposed to protect members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community from discrimination.

The measure has hurdled the House, but the Senate has yet to come up with its version.

CNN Philippines tried to get the side of H&J Sport Bar, but it has yet to comment on the incident as of writing.
