Manila (CNN Philippines Life) — This weekend, attend two foreign film festivals, go to a benefit gig for the Sagay 9, discuss local myths and creatures with fellow enthusiasts, meet the authors of the new YA novel “What If It’s Us,” attend a gig at Cubao Expo, and shop for zines, books, clothes, and home items at an open-themed market in Escolta.

The 4th Danish Film Festival

Cinephiles can head to Robinsons Galleria to catch full-length Danish films, some of which will be screened in the country for the first time ever, all throughout the weekend.

On Friday, Nov. 9, Susanne Bier’s “In A Better World” will be screened at 3:15 p.m., followed by Henrik Ruben Genz’s “Terribly Happy” at 5 p.m. and Lisa Ohlin’s “Walk With Me” at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 10, catch Kenneth Kainz’s “The Shamer's Daughter” at 3:15 p.m., Danish philosophy-inspired Filipino independent film “Dagsin” by Atom Magadia at 5 p.m., and Pieter Zandvliet’s “Land of Mine” at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 11, you can watch Kainz’s “Otto is A Rhino” at 5:30 p.m., “Walk With Me” at 5 p.m., and “Anti” by Morten BH at 7 p.m.

Admission is free. All movies will be screened at Robinsons Movieworld Galleria.

ALAY SA Sagay: Benefit Gig For Victims of Sagay Massacre

On Oct. 20, nine sugarcane farmers, including four women and two children, were gunned down inside a makeshift tent on a farm in Sagay City, Negros Occidental. As the investigation continues, Concerned Artists of the Philippines and SAKA have mounted a benefit gig this weekend for the families of the victims.

This Saturday, Nov. 10, at Conspiracy Garden Cafe, watch performances by Kapitam Kulam, Killratio, Mock Smile, Nonentities, P.V., The Shocking Details, and SkinXBones. The event starts at 9 p.m. but Libro Hindi Bala will also be setting up a book sale at 7 p.m. as part of the fundraiser.

Tickets are sold at ₱200.

Myth Talk at Kwago

Spend this Saturday, Nov. 10, discussing Philippine mythology and folklore with fellow enthusiasts at Kwago bookstore. Headed by Karl Gaverza of the online resource The Spirits of the Philippine Archipelago, discussion is open and free to all interested. Attendees can also observe a game of Tadhana, the Filipino tabletop RPG inspired by local myths and folklore, to be overseered by Sin Posadas.

Event starts at 1 p.m.

German Film Week Manila 2018

This week is German Film Week, which means this weekend will be your last chance to catch their lineup of German films on the big screen. The festival, which is on its third edition, features a total of 10 full-length films screened at SM Aura and SM North EDSA for its Metro Manila run. Tickets are sold at ₱100.

SM Aura schedules are as follows:

On Nov. 9, Friday, catch “Transit” at 7 p.m. and “The Final Journey” at 9 p.m. On Nov. 10, Saturday, catch “Styx” at 7 p.m. and “In The Fade” at 9:30 p.m. On Nov. 11, Sunday, “Only God Can Judge Me” at 7 p.m. and “303” at 9:30 p.m.

For SM North EDSA:

Becky and Adam in PH

Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera, authors of the new YA novel “What If It’s Us,” are taking their book tour to the Philippines with a stop in SM Aura Premier on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Cebu Trade Hall in SM City Cebu and on Sunday, Nov. 11 at the Samsung Hall in SM Aura Premier.

Attendees can have their Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera-authored books signed at the event, but only books purchased at National Bookstore and Powerbooks stores and website will be allowed.
