Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Recently, state weather bureau PAGASA officially announced the onset of the rainy season.

In a country where it's wet half the year (not to mention the average of 20 typhoons yearly), the rainy weather can be such a hassle.

Nothing can be more frustrating than watching your favorite pair of shoes get soaked in floodwater or having mud splatter all over a new pair of jeans.

But fashion need not clash with function. It is also important to have rainy weather-ready wardrobe to protect yourself from both the elements and common illnesses during the wet season, especially for commuters.
