Perez Hilton and Pia Wurtzbach

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — 64th Miss Universe pageant judge and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was initially rooting for Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez to bring home the title on December 21 (Monday, PHT). But Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach showed her genuine self to the universe and proved that she earned the crown fair and square.

Hilton admitted on the PHP or Perez Hilton podcast released on Tuesday that he thought Colombia was the most beautiful contestant, but he didn't think she deserved to win the title.

"Here's the difference between Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines: Miss Philippines came to win and Miss Colombia came to lose. Colombia came there as if she had already won; I think she truly believed that she was going to win. Philippines came with something to prove," he detailed.

He initially wanted to give Gutiérrez, one of the early fan favorites, a score of 9, but what he wasn't expecting was that Wurtzbach will give him a hard time choosing between the two.

He added that he originally planned on giving Wurtzbach a lower score but ended up giving her a higher-than-planned score.

"I wasn't expecting much of Philippines from her swimsuit portion, and then she came out and like boom! Fierceness! She is rocking this," he said.

He noted that Colombia gave a great answer in the first question and answer portion and was still favoring Gutiérrez at that point, although he was already feeling a little uncertain.

Hilton used the second question and answer portion for the Top 3 contenders as a gauge to not only pick the prettiest but who was the most deserving of the title.

He said Wurtzbach responded well when she was asked as to why she should be the next Miss Universe.

"It was the second time she gave a great answer. A better answer. By that point, I realized she was competitive and gave her A game. She deserves it. A real beauty, grace, elegance. She is Miss Universe," he described Wurtzbach.

He said that he voted based on his gut and with the notion that the Miss Universe pageant wasn't just a physical beauty contest.

"I went with my gut and I voted for Miss Philippines. I found out afterward it was unanimous. Every single judge on that panel voted — all four of us — for Miss Philippines to be number one," he revealed.

The panel of judges included Hilton, Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, comedian Niecy Nash, and former football star Emmitt Smith.

Ariadna Gutiérrez a diva?

Hilton said on the podcast that he saw how Miss Colombia was talking to her translator when the cameras weren't focused on her.

"I don't know if people at home could see, but Miss Colombia was being straight up diva b**** rude to her translator... Because Colombia was not happy with the pace and way the translator was translating... It was a major turn off, not just to me, but to several of the judges," he revealed.
