Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Filipino fine dining restaurant Gallery Vask ranked 39th in the internationally recognized list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2016.

Gallery Vask also received the The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in the Philippines title on Monday (February 29) in Bangkok, Thailand, the organizers announced in a news release. Filipina Margarita Forés, Asia’s Best Female Chef of 2016, also graced the event.

Owned by Chef Jose Luiz “Chele” Gonzalez, Gallery Vask is a fairly new gastronomic attraction at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig after opening just three years ago.

It is one of the 10 new entries in the list which is sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, some of the world's leading natural mineral water brands.

More than 300 restaurant industry experts from the region voted for the restaurants that made the cut. The experts were made up of food writers and critics, chefs, restaurateurs and highly regarded "foodies."

The list included representative restaurants from 13 countries, including 13 from China, 10 from Singapore and 10 from Japan.

For the second consecutive year, Bangkok’s Gaggan secured the top spot.

The Gallery Vask menu offers what it calls Anthropological Cuisine — it is modern cuisine using local ingredients, inspired by Philippine culture.

It takes pride in the use of native Filipino products in its innovative dishes.

Among the restaurant’s most notable dishes are the Binulo – a slightly sour soup flavoured with the alibangbang leaves used by the indigenous group of the Aetas, and the Tiradito – which is raw tuna loin enveloped in coconut gel, inspired by the Filipino favorite kinilaw.

These were made possible as the Spanish-born Gonzalez "has made it a priority to learn more about the ways people cook, to discover the relationships between different cuisines, and to use native ingredients in a manner that allows for future growth,” the Gallery Vask said in a statement.

Gonzalez had cooked at some of world's finest restaurants before he moved to the Philippines and opened Gallery Vask.

Aside from the food, the restaurant itself is a must-see, inspired by Philippine art, architecture and culture. It also serves as a gallery to showcase modern Filipino art, curated by architect and artist Carlo Calma.

Gallery Vask has also earned various recognitions year after year, including Esquire Restaurant of the Year for 2013 and Philippine Tatler Best New Restaurant in Inventive Cuisine for 2014.

In 2015, it was among the six inspirational restaurants in Australasia and Southeast Asia in The World’s 50 Best Diners Discovery Series Asia.
