COOP-NATCCO Rep. Cresente Paez and DILG Assistant Secretary Nariman Ambolodto

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Two sectoral representatives completed the Senate slate of the Liberal Party (LP) as confirmed by LP vice chair and Senate President Franklin Drilon on Monday (October 12).

They are COOP-NATCCO party-list Rep. Cresente Paez and Interior and Local Government Assistant (DILG) Secretary for Muslim Affairs and Special Concerns Nariman Ambolodto.

Paez is a graduate of the University of Southern Mindanao and has been the representative of COOP-NATCCO for three terms already. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (PHILDHRRA).

According to the Congress website, he is also the chairman of the NEC multipurpose cooperative and the Cooperative Bank of Camarines Norte. Paez is also the auditor of the Partylist Coalition Foundation.

Prior to his appointment in DILG, Ambolodto served as officer-in-charge of Maguindanao when Gov. Andal Ampatuan was suspended over his alleged involvement in the 2009 Maguindanao massacre.

As to why the LP chose them, Drilon said they are both representatives of very critical sectors in the country.

The LP stalwart also wished Sen. Gregorio Honasan the best of luck as he officially filed his certificate of candidacy as the running mate of Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Drilon also said Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Rebredo will win despite her low ratings in the vice presidential surveys.

He described Robredo as someone who is sincere, represents women and is the best example of good governance, always standing by the "Tuwid na Daan" principle.

Drilon also said it will be harder to have a Senate quorum as many members will be concentrating on the elections. But the senator is hopinh they will continue to do their job at the Senate until the last day.

Ako po ay maga-appeal na lang sa bawat isa na we were primarily elected bilang senador at meron tayong tungkulin," said Drilon. "May panahon sa kampanya, may panahon para tapusin ang ating trabaho.
