Ex-Minister of Justice Ricardo Puno Sr. dies

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 25) — Former Minister of Justice Ricardo Puno Sr. died on Wednesday, his family confirmed. He was 95.

"Today, my dad, Justice Ricardo C. Puno Sr., joined his Creator. WE LOVE YOU DAD!" his son Robbie Puno said in a Facebook post.

He did not give details on the cause of his father's death.


Puno was a Justice of the Court of Appeals from 1973 to 1978. He also served as the Minister of Justice from 1979 to 1984 under the administration of former President Ferdinand Marcos.

When he retired in 1984, Puno founded the law firm Ricardo V. Puno, Jr., Puno & Puno Law Offices. 

He is survived by his wife and 13 children.
