Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 19) — The National Food Authority (NFA) is now back under the supervision of the Department of Agriculture (DA) .

This, after President Rodrigo Duterte signed Executive Order No. 62 on September 17 stating the DA would have jurisdiction over the  NFA, as well as the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA).

EO 62 amends EO 165 (series 2014), which put the three officers under the Office of the President.

"The transfer of the NFA, PCA, and FPA to the DA...will ensure efficiency and coordination in the performance of their respective mandates, constant with the efforts to streamline the operations of government," the order released by Malacañang, said.

The order added there is a need to reorganize the NFA Council "for the effective formulation and coordination of a comprehensive program for the development and promotion of efficiency and productivity in the food industry."

According to the order, the NFA Council will now have DA Secretary Manny Piñol.
