Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 26) —  Three soldiers were killed and three others injured in a clash with suspected Abu Sayyaf members Friday morning in Sulu.

A report from the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command confirmed three marines were gunned down in an encounter with an undetermined number of bandits in Patikul town.

The soldiers were members of the Joint Task Sulu under Brig. Gen. Rey Pabayo.

No further details from the Abu Sayyaf side, but initial investigation showed a number of bandits were "severely wounded."

The injured soldiers are now at the KHTB Station Hospital.

This is a developing story.
