Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 13) — At least four persons were killed Friday in Saranggani province when a truck carrying around 38 passengers lost its brake, hurtled on a village road and turned on its side, police said.

Superintendent Ramon Gencianos, Malungon town police chief, said passengers were thrown off the runaway vehicle, killing at least four passengers and injuring a number of others on board.

The victims were rushed to Malungon Municipal Hospital, Gencianos said.

The truck was traversing a road in Malungon's Barangay Malandag when the accident occurred.
