Around 15,000 delegates are expected to participate in the 2016 Palarong Pambansa

(CNN Philippines) — Albay has recently won the bid to host the 2016 Palarong Pamabansa, which marks the second time for the province to host the games in 63 years.

With 15 thousand delegates are expected to join the 21 Palaro events, Albay Governor Joey Salceda said that though it is primarily a sports event under the Education Department, the games will also serve as an opportunity for Albay to showcase its hospitality and tourist sites to the participants and guests.

While the main venue for the games is the Albay Sports complex in Guinobatan, sports facilities for the event will be scattered across the province and are currently being constructed around Albay’s most scenic venues.

Salceda stated that distributing the events around the province will give the participants and guests the opportunity to explore Albay.

Aside from the Palaro, Albay will also be hosting the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) national games next year as announced by Salceda via social media.

Salceda informs that PRISAA 2016 is scheduled on April 2016 with about 6 thousand participants expected.
