Paras was recruited by the Bruins after playing impressively with Cathedral High School, the Middlebrooks Academy, and in the FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship and 2014 FIBA Asia U18 Championship.

Bruins head coach Steve Alford was happy to welcome Paras into the program and praised his athleticism and energy.

“We're always looking for players who’ve grown up immersed in basketball, and Kobe definitely fits that mold,” said Alford in a statement. “He just loves the game. To add a talented player like Kobe to our program is terrific."

Alford added that Paras is "a very athletic guard who plays with tremendous energy."

"We like how he can attack off the dribble and get to the rim in the open court, and we’re excited that he’ll be joining us in Westwood.”

The UCLA Bruins boast one of the most successful basketball programs in the U.S., with 11 national titles to their name, and has produced National Basketball Association stars such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Reggie Miller, Russell Westbrook, and Kevin Love.

Paras joins the Bruins as a member of its 2016 recruiting class.
