Boxer Rogen Ladon will represent the Philippines at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Filipino light flyweight pugilist Rogen Ladon booked his ticket to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro after out pointing India's Devendro Singh Laishram, 30-27, at the semifinals of the Asian-Oceanic Olympic Qualifiers on Thursday (March 31) in Qian'An, China.

Ladon is the first Filipino boxer to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games.

All the Filipino needed to do to be eligible for the Rio tilt was to make it to the gold medal match of the qualifying tournament.

Ladon will go toe-to-toe with Uzbekistan's Hasanboy Dusmatov in the finals of the Men's Light Flyweight (46-49kg) category.

It remains to be seen if other Filipino fighters will be joining Ladon on the plane to Rio.

As of this posting, bantamweight Mario Fernandez and welterweight Eumir Marcial are still gunning for an Olympic berth.
