Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Three-time University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) MVP Alyssa Valdez will open her own volleyball skills camp which will run through May 5-22 in various locations.

According to her, the 'Alyssa Valdez Skills Camp' will not just promote improvement in the sport itself.

"For us, this is volleyball crossing into the lifestyle of the volleyball players," said Valdez. "It's not only about volleyball, but it is also about lifestyle."

The camp is set for legs in the STI campuses in Laguna, Cubao, and Rizal. While another leg has been set at the University of Batangas.

Valdez will not be the only volleyball player involved. Kim Fajardo and Kim Kianna Dy from La Salle, the UAAP champion, Jho Maraguinot and Bea de Leon of the Ateneo Lady Eagles, among others, were all invited to mentor the students.

Valdez feels strongly that working together with former on-court rivals  needs to be done to promote the sport .

"We know that we are reaching out to the kids, para makita nila na united tayo as a volleyball community," she said.
