Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 22) — Filipino fencers Brennan Louie and Nathaniel Perez faced off Tuesday in the men's foil individual finals, assuring the country of the top two medals.

In the end, it was Louie who ended up receiving the gold medal after beating compatriot Perez, 15-14, at the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Louie's triumph upped the Philippines' gold medal count to seven, after the gymnastics team started the day with two gold medals, and Agatha Wong secured a gold in wushu.

The fencing team rounded off their medal harvest with a silver from Hanniel Abella and a bronze for Harlene Raguin for the women's individual epee event.

It was the third time in this year's games that the Philippines nabbed 1-2 finishes in the same event, a feat accomplished by the triathletes in the men's and women's competition on Monday.
