Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 22) — Derrick Pumaren will no longer call the shots for the University of the East Red Warriors in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.

The Red Warriors and Pumaren have ended their four-year relationship in the collegiate league.

He confirmed the news via text message on Wednesday.

The veteran mentor has registered a 21-35 record since taking over the helm from Boysie Zamar in Season 77.

Pumaren told CNN Philippines' Sports Desk on Monday that Alvin Pasaol's career game against the reigning champions De La Salle University Green Archers was the highlight of his squad this year.

"The 49 points of Alvin Pasaol. I was happy for him. I kinda expected that since last season. It was his breakout game. He's now known to everybody," he said.
