Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 20) — The Ateneo Lady Eagles University tamed the University Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses, 25-21, 25-18, 16-25, 25-22, Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Maddie Madayag finished with 15 points off nine attacks and six blocks for the Lady Eagles at the UAAP women's volleyball tournament.

Led by Sisi Rondina, UST established a four-point edge in the early part of the contest. A couple of errors by the Golden Tigresses, however, allowed Ateneo to climb back and steal the opening set.

Just like in the first set, the Lady Eagles completed a comeback to take a commanding 2-0 set advantage.

Not to be outdone, UST's 7-0 start in the third set paved the way for them to extend the match.

The Golden Tigresses were able to inch closer at the crucial stretch of the fourth frame, but Ateneo's composure was key to the win.

The Lady Eagles hope to keep their momentum going against the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws on February 24, while UST tackles the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons on the same day.
